Types of Digital Maturity in Digital Transformation Era

Digital maturity has two combined dimensions: digital intensity and transformation management intensity. Digital intensity emphasizes the investment in technology aims to change company operation and transformation management intensity aims to create leadership that capable of driving digital transformation. These two dimensions mapped out four different types of digital maturity as follows:

Beginners

In beginner stage of maturity, organization still has a low awareness of opportunities and only has small amount of advanced digital capability.

Conservative

In conservative stage, organization that already has a unified vision. However, organization is still skeptical digital trends value and tends to favor prudence over innovation.

Fashionistas

Fashionistas is a term for organization who has implemented digital trends and used brand new technology in their organization, yet still does not have a unified vision for their digital transformation.

Digirati

Digirati is the expert stage where the organization has truly understood how to drive value through digital transformation.

Conclusion

Digital transformation has forced many companies to transform their organization, however not all companies are able to successfully follow digital transformation trend. There are several types of digital maturity within organization: Beginners, Conservative, Fashionistas, and Digirati which is the result of digital intensity and transformation management intensity dimensions of digital maturity.
