Agile is a subset of Scrum. Scrum is a lightweight agile development process framework that allows people to address complicated adaptive challenges while producing high-value solutions in a productive and creative manner. What is Scrum Master?

The Scrum Master also oversees the Scrum Team’s productivity. The Scrum Master accomplishes this by assisting the Scrum Team in improving their practices while working within the Scrum framework. Scrum Masters are actual leaders that serve the Scrum Team as well as the company.

a. Scrum Master Roles to the Scrum Team

The Scrum Master helps the Scrum Team focus on creating high-value Increments that match the Definition of Done, removing impediments to the Scrum Team’s work, and ensuring that all Scrum events take place and are good, productive, and kept within the timeframe.

b. Scrum Master Roles to the Product Owner

The Scrum Master assists in the development of techniques for effective Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management, assists in the understanding of the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items by the Scrum Team, assists in the development of empirical product planning for a complex environment, and facilitates stakeholder collaboration as requested or required.

c. Scrum Master Roles to the Organization

Practices that apply to the development, deployment, delivery, and support of certain services in an organization. It includes business analysis, service design and desk, availability management, and so on.

The Scrum Master guides, trains, and coaches the organization’s Scrum adoption, plans and advises Scrum implementations within the organization, assists employees and stakeholders in understanding and implementing an empirical approach to complex work, and removes barriers between stakeholders and Scrum Teams.

Six Characteristics of a Great Scrum Master

a. Involves the Team with Setting Up to Process

A great Scrum Master ensures that the entire team is on board with the Scrum process. For example, the daily Scrum is scheduled at a time that is convenient for all team members. The number of meetings is a common complaint regarding Scrum; nevertheless, integrating the team in the event preparation will prevent at least some opposition.

b. Has a great understanding of Agile Scrum

Every practice is essentially useless without a thorough, supported understanding of the agile concepts. An in-depth understanding of the agile scrum will dramatically improve the odds of effective practice implementation. You must educate the Scrum Team about the Agile Manifesto, Agile Principles, and Scrum events the Scrum Master.

c. Recognizes and acts on team conflict

A great Scrum Master has read Patrick Lencioni’s book “The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.” As a result, he can spot team disagreement early on, use various activities to address it, and, even better, knows how to prevent conflict.

d. Dares to be disruptive

A great Scrum Master recognizes that some changes will only happen if they are disruptive. He recognizes when it’s essential and can generate enough disruption to compel a change without causing irreversible harm.

e. Has influence at organizational level

At the tactical and strategic levels, a great Scrum Master knows how to encourage and influence. At these levels, some of the most challenging barriers a team will face may arise; as a result, it’s critical for a Scrum Master to understand how to behave at various levels within an organization.
